Batman and Wonder Woman Casino Games Released

Posted by admin on October 23rd, 2009 under Online casinos news

Following the incredible success of the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man slots at online casinos, DC comics are now getting in on the act, with Batman and Wonder Woman online casino slots games arriving at InterCasino.

InterCasino is one of the oldest and most successful online casinos on the Internet, and DC’s decision to choose them as the hosts of these two games says a lot about their trust and reputation.

The Dark Knight battles the Joker in the 50-payline video slot, featuring wild symbols and a re-spin feature with a 2x multiplier. The Descent into Madness bonus round sees you battle through Arkham Asylum with a chance to win 100x your bet.

Wonder Woman also has a 50-payline slot, battling through zombies to take on the God Ares. Her magic lasso creates free spins and wild symbols, held on the reel for up to 5 spins.

Players for Changes

The Lisbon Treaty was complacently accepted by many EU member-states in the past elections and fought vehemently by other nations (Ireland was very opposed to joining the Lisbon Treaty but a passed the legislation in a re-vote). And though the Lisbon Treaty may have some key issues, the “Citizens Initiative” provision gives some very strong power back to the citizens of the European Union. Supporters of an open online casino gambling industry in the EU have launched the Right2Bet campaign in an effort to force the EU Parliament to take action on the internet gambling issue. Essentially, the citizens are looking for the Parliament to liberalize the EU market and pass legislation that clearly outlines the expectations that EU member-states participate in an open market.

Several EU member-states are stubbornly maintaining their current online casino gambling monopolies and have refused negotiations and request from the European Commission for more open internet gambling laws. The Commission has asked all EU member-states to comply with the EU’s policies regarding the free trade of goods and services between EU member-states. The Right2Bet campaign will pick up where the Commission’s efforts have failed. Although the Commission is actively supporting and working toward an open gambling environment for online casinos, the negotiations are time-consuming and lengthy and the EU Parliament has refused to come to the aid of the Commission with some clear legislation on the topic.

To that end, if the Right2Bet campaign gathers one million signatures in support of the online casino gambling then the EU Parliament will be forced to put the issue on the agenda and directly address the EU’s internet gambling policies.

Tighter Social Controls for Online Casinos

Online casino gambling policies in Malta are likely to change in the very near future as John Dalli, the Social Policy Minister on the island takes up the cause and calls for some tighter controls on several aspects of the gambling industry. Malta is a top licensing jurisdiction in the global gambling industry and the island is known for progressive and strong internet gambling regulations for all of the online casinos licensed out of Malta. A growing concern for the Maltese though is the impact of internet gambling on the Maltese themselves. Dalli has come right out with his position on the situation and announced that gambling related advertising on the island should be banned and controls put in place to track where the internet gambling is coming from to protect some of the more vulnerable in Malta.

Problem gambling is a growing concern in the global community and as the Social Policy Minister Dalli has taken on the internet gambling industry head-on and plans to introduce new avenues of control for the impact that online casinos have on Maltese gamblers. Dalli’s essential message is not to prohibit and stop internet gambling, but to rather minimize the ability for gambling abuse and addictive gambling habits to form. Dalli supports the online casino gambling industry from an entertainment perspective but is looking to implement additional controls that will better track and limit the potential for abuse.

In addition to proposed bans on advertising from the online casinos, Dalli proposes that the Maltese gambling authorities should work with the ISP to track IP addresses. This information would help the Maltese authorities determine where internet gambling is most popular and how to better offer problem gambling preventative measures.

The Russian gambling industry is in a severe state of flux right now and it’s hard to actually pin down the specifics. The Russian government recently saw a huge increase in the number of online casinos operating in the country and targeting Russians because of legislation that took effect earlier this year that forced land gambling establishments out of the cities and into four distinct and remote regions of the country. Land gambling at parlors, casino venues, and clubs was a huge source of entertainment for the citizens of Russia and also a cash-cow for the Russian government because of tax revenues generated from a full and profitable land gambling industry. Over the past two years, though, the Russian government has changed it’s position on gambling and pushed the industry out of the cities in an effort to protect the citizens from some of the social ills associated with internet gambling.

More recently the online casinos have really flourished in the unregulated internet gambling environment in Russia. The government, while not approving of the internet gambling industry, also does not have controls in place to stop the internet gambling sites from targeting Russians who are looking for a filler now that all of the legal land gambling venues are gone.

The Russian government is now on the defensive and looking for ways to curb the confusing legislative environment in the country. On a broad scale, land and online casino gambling is quite popular in Russia because the Russians seem to have an affinity for the games; despite unclear legislation and the forced exit of major gambling companies, Russians are still actively seeking out gambling opportunities.

Bad Beat Jackpot Hits €330,000 at IPN Network

The Bad Beat Jackpot at GTECH G2’s International Poker Network has exceeded the €300,000 milestone – and then some. The jackpot is awarded if a great hand is beaten by a better one – for example, a player holding four-of-a-kind loses to a straight flush.

“We boosted the jackpot last week so that the next winner would get at least €100,000,” said Per Karlsson, Head of Poker GTECH G2. “The last time our Bad Beat jackpot was hit was shortly after it topped €400K so I have a feeling it won’t be long before we’re making another player feel better about losing with a winning hand!”

The hand winner will, at present, receive over €50,000 with the same to be split between the other players at the table. By the time it is hit, who knows how large the jackpot will be?

Last time IPN’s jackpot was unleashed it was a huge sum of €412,000 in August.
